The parade drew a large number of spectators along Palm Avenue, with the route going from Oak Valley Parkway south to 12th Street, then back up the street to its original starting point.
The parade started around 4 p.m. but people were staking out their viewing sites along the route about a half hour before the floats and marching bands made their way down Palm.
Tonya Johnson and her 13-year-old daughter, Kassandra, have watched the parade from the corner of 13th? Street and Palm Avenue for the past six years. Tonya, a 1983 Beaumont High School graduate, said Friday?s audience was larger than in past years.
She also said she chose to park on 13th Street for a reason.?Because it?s easy to get in and out,? said Johnson, whose 15 year-old daughter, Peggy, was a cheerleader in the parade.
Son Jeremiah, now 23, was in the 2008 parade.
Michelle Rechsteiner was waiting to see her daughter, Ashley Wilkin,17, ride along the parade route as one of the five nominated princesses for the 2012 Homecoming.
Rechsteiner said she was excited that her daughter was chosen for the honor and had high hopes for that evening.
?You don?t get to do it very often,? she said.
The parade theme was ?Circus?? and it was displayed on the floats. The Class of 2016 had a sign that said ?Let?s go clown around.? Their float had yellow, pink and white leis and colorful balloons.
The San Gorgonio Middle School Band performed as well as the Beaumont High School Band.
The Class of 2014 featured a float of acrobats while the drama department did a freak show with live performers.
The nominees for the royal court rode in different cars and the cheer squads performed some routines during the parade.
The homecoming football game, against West Valley Hemet High School, was held in the new football stadium, which was finished by June 1, 2012, in time for the 2012 graduation.
The stadium was packed with Cougars fans, who filled the bleachers and the area around the snack bar/concession stand. Graduates and current students hugged each other while many of the football fans were buying large bags of kettle corn and dishes of nachos to munch on during the game.
The Cougars mascot walked through the stadium, greeting fans.
At halftime, the royal court was announced during a beautiful display of fireworks created by Pyro Spectaculars of Rialto.
Dylan Valdivia was named homecoming king and Amanda Gray was named homecoming queen.
